Marrakech station to the medina

Read the stop on your ticket. The train list names Marrakech in Guéliz and prints no street. A coach may stop at Bab Doukkala, very close to a main medina gate, or on another street. A city-bus trip is printed at 4 MAD, with no line from the station.

SHORT ANSWER

Read the stop on your ticket, name the gate your place gave you, and ask for the meter before any bag goes in the boot.

If the train ticket says MARRAKECH Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, that stop has no street Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, and the council lists it in Guéliz Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, which that page sets apart from the medina.

If the coach ticket says Bab Doukkala Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, the transport pages put the station there, and the gate page calls that gate a main way into the medina Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources with the station very close Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources.

The English Guéliz list says Marrakech bus and train station Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, the French list says Gare routière et ferroviaire de Marrakech Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, and Supratours also lists Avenue Hassan II Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources by the train station, so use the street written on the ticket.

CTM's own list says Boulevard Aboubaker Seddik Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, and another council page says 12 boulevard Zerktouni Sources disagree Sources.

A city-network trip is printed at 4 MAD Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, that page names no line from the train station or the coach station to a medina gate Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, and airport day and night prices stay on Marrakech airport to the medina.

How we checked

The council's Guéliz page was opened in English and in French. Both put a station line in the Guéliz list, and both treat Guéliz as separate from the medina. The English words are Marrakech bus and train station Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. The French words are Gare routière et ferroviaire de Marrakech Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. Neither language gives a street, a minute count, or a fare from that list to a gate.

The transport pages were read in both languages the same day. They agree on Bab Doukkala Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, on tickets are sold inside the station Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, and on 4 MAD Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources for a city-network trip. Both still name the network ALSA Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. They do not name a line, a station stop, or a first or last city bus. The airport bus on that page is a different ride, already on the airport guide.

The gate walk was read in both languages. Bab Doukkala is a main way into the medina Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. English says the bus station is very close Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. French says the coach station is toute proche, which is the same idea and not a second distance. Both say the gates used to close in the evening and stay open now Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. Neither gives minutes on foot.

The ONCF booking site's station file was read. The human site oncf.ma did not open from this check, so no street was taken from a station article there. The file names MARRAKECH Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources in English and in French and has no street Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. A second ONCF stop is SIDI BRAHIM MARRAKECH STADIUM Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources in English and SIDI BRAHIM STADE MARRAKECH Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources in French. The coach station file, read the same day, also lists marketplace rows named Gare de Marrakech Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, Centre-ville de Marrakech Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources and the airport. Those rows are not marked as ONCF stations. The file does not say what they are for.

Supratours' agency file lists a counter at Bab Doukkala Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources on Avenue Mly El Hassan Bel Mahdi Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, one at Avenue Hassan II Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources by the train station, and one at number 2, Lot Zaitoun, Amerchiche Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. CTM's agency list, in French, says Boulevard Aboubaker Seddik Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources at the corner Zineb Nefzaouia Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. The council's events page is French only. No English version was found. It also places the coach station at Bab Doukkala, places a Supratour counter, spelled without the final s, on Avenue Hassan II in Guéliz Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, and places CTM at 12 boulevard Zerktouni Sources disagree Sources. The two CTM streets do not match. Phone numbers on that page are left off this guide. The railway line on that page gives no street.

The useful-numbers pages were read in both languages. English labels one authorities line Central Station Sources disagree Sources. French labels that same line Poste centrale Sources disagree Sources. The postal section, in both languages, places the main post office in Guéliz at Place du 16 novembre Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources and also names a post office at Jemaâ El Fna Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. That line is not the train station. The national tourist office site did not open past its security check, so the meter sentence was not read again. It remains the line already on the petit-taxi guide: city taxi rates are regulated and taxis have meters Source-checked 26 Oct 2026 Sources, while the French page opened from it does not say taxis have meters Source-checked 26 Oct 2026 Sources.

News articles read for the airport guide were not opened again. They say Supratours was to start Marrakech urban and peri-urban buses on 14 December 2025, after ALSA Unconfirmed Sources, and they give No fare in dirhams, and no airport line number, in those articles Unconfirmed Sources. They do not name a line from these stations. Supratours' own site, on that earlier reading, does not show a Marrakech city-bus timetable Source-checked 20 Oct 2026 Sources. Nothing on this page was seen at the station.

Step by step

Our advice: read the stop on the ticket before you look for a car. Guéliz and Bab Doukkala are both real names on these pages. Treat them as two stops until the ticket shows they are the same one.

  1. If you came by train, the stop the list names is MARRAKECH Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, and that record has no street Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. The council's Guéliz page puts the station in Guéliz Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. A second ONCF stop is the stadium, SIDI BRAHIM MARRAKECH STADIUM Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. If the ticket says the stadium, that is the other stop. These pages do not place it at a medina gate.
  2. If you came by coach, start with the name on the ticket. The transport pages, in English and in French, place the coach station at Bab Doukkala Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources and say tickets are sold inside the station Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. The gate page calls Bab Doukkala a main way into the medina Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources and the station very close Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. The same Guéliz list, in English, says Marrakech bus and train station Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, and in French it says Gare routière et ferroviaire de Marrakech Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. Supratours lists Bab Doukkala Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources on Avenue Mly El Hassan Bel Mahdi Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, Avenue Hassan II Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources by the train station, and number 2, Lot Zaitoun, Amerchiche Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. The events page puts that Hassan II counter Avenue Hassan II in Guéliz Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources.
  3. CTM's own list says Boulevard Aboubaker Seddik Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources at Zineb Nefzaouia Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. The events page says 12 boulevard Zerktouni Sources disagree Sources. Those streets do not match. Go to the street written on your ticket, and ask which door if the two still look different.
  4. For a city bus, the council prints 4 MAD Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources a trip and still calls the network ALSA Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. It names no line from the train station or the coach station to a medina gate Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. A press account, not opened again for this page, says Supratours was to start Marrakech urban and peri-urban buses on 14 December 2025, after ALSA Unconfirmed Sources, and it gives No fare in dirhams, and no airport line number, in those articles Unconfirmed Sources. Supratours' site does not show a Marrakech city-bus timetable Source-checked 20 Oct 2026 Sources. Do not pick a bus only because the council page says ALSA. If no line is posted at the door, use a taxi and ask for the meter. Do not treat the airport bus as this ride. That airport price, and the hours printed for it, stay on Marrakech airport to the medina.
  5. For a taxi, the council names stations near the Koutoubia, at Sidi Mimoun and at Bab Doukkala Source-checked 26 Oct 2026 Sources and says a ride there can be negotiated Source-checked 26 Oct 2026 Sources. It does not name a rank at the train-station door. Ask for the meter before you sit down. Le compteur, s'il vous plaît, avant de partir. The meter, please, before we leave. The English tourist-office page says rates are regulated and taxis have meters Source-checked 26 Oct 2026 Sources. The French page opened from it does not say taxis have meters Source-checked 26 Oct 2026 Sources. Ask anyway. The city steps are on Petit taxis in Marrakech.
  6. Say which ride you want. Cars at the stations named above that leave once the car is full Source-checked 26 Oct 2026 Sources are the shared ride toward other towns. If you are going to the medina, say so before you get in. Je vais à la médina, pas vers une autre ville. I am going to the medina, not to another town. إلى المدينة القديمة، من فضلك، وليس إلى مدينة أخرى. To the old medina, please, not to another town.
  7. Name the gate, not only the house. Whether a car can drive the last lanes is not confirmed. Agree the stop before the door shuts. An app, when a car is offered, is Uber and ride apps in Marrakech. Those pages do not say an app car can collect you at the train station or at Bab Doukkala.
  8. Carry dirham notes. What the notes look like, and where to get them at the airport, is Cash and ATMs at Marrakech airport. If the ticket lives on your phone, a line is SIM card at Marrakech airport. If the train started at Casa Voyageurs, that station is Catching your train at Casa Voyageurs, and the rides are Casablanca to Marrakech by train and Marrakech to Fes by train. A coach onward is Marrakech to Essaouira by coach. The fare log has no station row yet. The city page is Your first Marrakech trip.

The edge case

You arrive after dark. The gate page says the old doors used to close in the evening and stay open now Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. It does not print a last bus, and it does not print the hour a night taxi rate would start. The airport night price belongs to the airport ride, on Marrakech airport to the medina. Do not reuse it for this hop.

Our advice: after dark, ask for the meter or agree a price before you get in. Do not count on a city bus until you have seen that night's board.

The English useful-numbers page says Central Station Sources disagree Sources where the French page says Poste centrale Sources disagree Sources. The postal lines place the main post office at Place du 16 novembre Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources in Guéliz, and another at Jemaâ El Fna Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. Follow the train list, not that English label.

Ramadan is not mentioned on these station lines. A day when the trains or the coaches stop is not on these pages either. If the ticket says SIDI BRAHIM MARRAKECH STADIUM Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources, that is the other ONCF stop. These pages do not place it at a medina gate.

What to watch for

Our advice: the surprise is usually the wrong door, or a price borrowed from a different ride. Settle both before the car moves.

Still being checked

Not yet confirmed, so not stated as fact on this page:

  • Which street a CTM ticket in Marrakech uses. The operator list says Boulevard Aboubaker Seddik and Zineb Nefzaouia. The council events page says 12 boulevard Zerktouni in Guéliz.
  • The English useful-numbers line says Central Station where the French line says Poste centrale. It has not been tied to the train stop. The postal section places the main post office at Place du 16 novembre.
  • A walking time from the train stop to a medina gate, and from Bab Doukkala to a door inside the medina. No minute count is printed.
  • A city-bus line from either station to a gate, the stop names, and the first and last bus. The council prints 4 MAD Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources for a city-network trip and still says ALSA Source-checked 27 Oct 2026 Sources. The press account says Supratours was to start Marrakech urban and peri-urban buses on 14 December 2025, after ALSA Unconfirmed Sources, and it gives No fare in dirhams, and no airport line number, in those articles Unconfirmed Sources. The name on the bus is not settled.
  • Whether a taxi rank stands at the train-station door, the pickup charge for a ride that stays in town, and the hour a night rate starts.
  • Whether a car may drive the last lanes to a door, or must stop at a gate.
  • What the coach-list names Gare de Marrakech and Centre-ville de Marrakech are for. They are not marked as the ONCF stop.
  • Where the Supratours counter at number 2, Lot Zaitoun, Amerchiche sits relative to the medina.
  • Whether an app car can collect you at the train station or at Bab Doukkala.
  • A fare written down at either door, with the date, for the fare log.
  • What changes in Ramadan, or on a day the station is closed. These pages do not say.
